INTEC Maschinenbau was registered in the commercial register in 1974. It originated from the engineering firm of Hans-Julius Schaad, which was founded in Dortmund in 1958. Initially focused on special-purpose machine construction, the company specialized in the production of powder coating systems in 1968.

INTEC worked on the early development of the triboelectric charging system and received its first basic patents in the early 1970s. Over time, the company grew and was incorporated as a GmbH (limited liability company) in 1984.

Since 1997, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Heiko Kassner has been the managing partner of the company.
